#UKSNOW is a neat idea by UK web developer Ben Marsh, it is a map of the British winter which uses Twitter users as a source of information. Those taking part simply post the hashtag #UKSNOW and then a rating 0/10 – 10/10 this is then used to generate an up to date map.
This is an interesting use of crowd-sourcing through Twitter, and it would be nice to see something similar for the Museum / Heritage sector.
Perhaps you know of a Museum which is doing something similar?
If all museum tweeting they’re closed due to the weather (and I’ve seen quite some of them the last few days) would add to this map their location and status, I’d help visitors avoid closed doors.
But then again, it’s more a gadget than a sustainable tool. At least until climate change makes our winters last for 9 months:-)
I noticed today that http://www.culture24.org.uk have a Google mash up to show where cultural events are happening in the UK.
